Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge
2023 Programs and Services
Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge counsels and strengthens individuals and families improving their quality of life since 1955. Family Service serves over 10,000 individuals each year.
The Child and Family Counseling Center provides clinical services to children, individuals and families who need help in finding solutions to a wide range of emotional, behavioral and relationship problems. We have trained experts in alcohol/ drug abuse issues, parenting issues and family conflict/ violence issues. Services are provided on a sliding fee scale without excluding anyone due to income.
Domestic Abuse Intervention Groups provide 26 weeks of counseling to perpetrators of violence by offering education, coping skills and support to help prevent recidivism of offense.
Family Safe Haven provides counseling and emergency financial assistance to protect and serve survivors of domestic violence.
Ryan White Part A Program- Care Coordination, resources and programs that enhance health and well-being. This program assists with emergency financial assistance, transportation, utilities, medication and other supportive services.
HIV Women & Children Program - Assist clients to access services, resources and programs that enhance health and well-being. Services include: medical case management, support groups, counseling, health/treatment education, transportation, and emergency financial assistance.
HIV, Counseling, Testing, Referral & Linkage to Care- combines HIV education, counseling, testing and referral services aimed at prevention, early identification of the HIV infection and linkage to medical care.
ViiV Rural Initiative – Expands HIV Prevention and Education to rural parishes targeting high risk, underserved individuals. This project increases HIV testing, counseling, and referral services in areas where services are limited.
Pharmacy – Care Pharmacy conveniently located inside the Family Service office location offers specialty packaged medication and free delivery.
Supervised Visitation Program serves the needs of families who are Court ordered/judgement to visit their child/children through supervised visitation.
The Parenting Center promotes healthy family development by providing ongoing workshops, consultations and classes to help parents increase their knowledge, skills and decision making in the important role of effective parenting. The program offers parenting classes and professional workshops for parents, teachers and community groups focused on child development, strategies for effective parenting and a variety of classes that teach proactive methods to promote healthy social emotional growth in children.
