What is the Parenting Center?  The Parenting Center promotes healthy family development by providing ongoing workshops to parents, teachers and community groups to increase their knowledge and skills in the areas of parenting, child development and child abuse prevention.

Groups for children, teens and tots focusing on social skills, school issues, family transitions, fostering creativity and coping with everyday stressors.

Parenting classes and professional workshops for parents, teachers and community groups focused on child development, strategies for effective parenting and a variety of classes that teach proactive methods that promote healthy social emotional growth in children.

How to Be an Effective Parent: Cost $190
Tired of arguments, lack of respect and discipline from your children?  Improve your parenting skills, understand parental responsibilities, how to communicate effectively with your children, have order in the home and enjoy your family life.  There are six counseling sessions designed for all caretakers parents including those referred by social services, judges, and other service providers.  You must attend all six sessions to receive an attendance certificate.
 
All sessions are 1 hour.  Appointments are scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday Cost $20 per session and a $10 registration
 

Anger Management for Parents: Cost $190

Anger is a normal emotion.  Children learn early which "buttons to press".  Learn methods of dealing with anger in a healthy, constructive manner as well as coping with the pressures of life.  There are six counseling sessions designed for single parents, couples and caretakers with a total of 6 hours of anger management.  You must attend all six sessions to receive an attendance certificate.

Appointments are scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday- Thursday

 All session are 1 hour.  Appointments are scheduled between 9:00 A.M. and 7 P.M. Monday - Thursday Cost: $20 per session and a $10 registration

 TransParenting® (formerly PARENTING TOGETHER WHILE LIVING APART) Cost: $65

Whatever stage of separation or divorce you may be in, the TransParenting seminar will offer you tools and information to help you move your family through this period of significant change. Our programs offers solutions to divorce related problems and reinforces the good parenting already happening in your home. We see divorce or parenting apart as an opportunity for change which can, when done thoughtfully, help all family members find peace in their future.  Issues concerning emotional loss, self care, co-parenting, custody, legal and economic aspects and conflict resolutions will be covered.

All classes are 3 hours, 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, every third Wednesday of the month.

Pre-registration is required for all classes!

 


SUPERVISED VISITATION
Supervised Visitation provides contact between a non-custodial parent, and one or more children in the presence of a third person. This person is responsible for observing and seeking to ensure the safety of all those involved.

This service is available when the court has determined that supervised visitation occur in an environment that provides a high level of safety and security for custodial and non-custodial parent(s) and child.

Clients must be court ordered to attend supervised visitation.

Program fees are based on a sliding scale as follows:
12,000 and below- $50.00
13,000-20,000- $60.00
21,000-32,000- $70.00
32,000 and above- $80.00

CHILDCARE TRAINING CLASSES:
All Day Care Training classes are held on Saturdays 9:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. Day Care rtainin classes cost $10 per person, Classes can be offered on site if there are 8 or more attending

Turn negative behavior into good behavior, tips and tools to effectively handle preschool challenges for 2-5 year olds.

Social Skills for Preschoolers:

The importance of helping preschoolers learn social skills, manners, and respect for self, peers and teachers.

Bullying Prevention for Preschoolers:

Bullying Prevention and Awareness for Ages 3-5, it is important to know the signs and behaviors that describe bullying.  This class is designed to help teachers prevent bullying and to help the child that is bullying.

Anger Management for Preschools and their Teachers:

How well do adults model appropriate anger management?  Temper tantrums to meltdowns from the youngest preschooler to the seasoned teacher; tips for keeping your cool and how to effectively deal with anger.

Curriculum Development and Planning for Preschoolers:

Curriculums for toddlers to 4 year olds, the who, what and where of planning for successful educational programs and time management for child care centers.

Effectively Using Discipline Techniques:

Ideas and tools teachers can use with toddlers to kindergarteners.  Learn how to apply effective discipline techniques which are age appropriate that help to create successful learning environments and well managed classrooms.
