What is Giving Tuesday? A global day of giving, celebrating collective generosity and nonprofits doing good in the world

When is Giving Tuesday? November 30, 2021 (annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving)

Why Should You Join in Giving Tuesday?

In 2012, New York City’s 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact decided to encourage a day of giving to follow Thanksgiving Thursday, Black Friday, and Small Business Saturday. They created a hashtag, invited publicity, and changed the world.

Since that first year, Giving Tuesday has grown to become a global movement, with thousands of organizations participating and millions of dollars raised to DO GOOD.  With the recent COVID19 pandemic, raising money for nonprofits is more vital than ever. So many have been affected by the pandemic at a time when their resources were limited. Giving to the Greater Baton Rouge nonprofits will help them recover and be able to concentrate on their mission in the community.

Baton Rouge has seen more domestic violence since the pandemic began. District Attorney Hillar Moore’s office has publicly talked about the major spike in cases. "Last year was a high year, and this year is even higher," Moore said.

This year Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge is raising funds for our Family Safe Haven Program which provides clinical treatment and emergency financial assistance to survivors of domestic violence. We hope you’ll join us in supporting this program on November 30th.
